Just lately, I’ve been looking more closely at some of the rings available for men, and I discovered something. Even some of the handmade gemstone jewelry for men is boring.

Take a look at a few of the pieces the men in your life wear. Plain gold bands are the norm, after all, and they’re just…plain. Some jewelry designers try to spice up their men’s collections a bit by adding diamonds or maybe onyx, but I think we men can do better than that.

Don’t we deserve the same variety and freedom of expression women enjoy with their accessories? I certainly think so. I try to design my rings with both men and women in mind, and when I decided to add handmade gemstone jewelry to my collection, I was hopeful men would see it as an opportunity to let their personal style show.

Does he need an excuse to wear colors? Father’s Day is coming up. A ring featuring the birthstone of a child is a beautiful testament to fatherhood. Or for the groom-to-be, a bold wedding band is even more striking when complimented by a colored stone. Wouldn’t his-and-hers matching rings make the perfect start for a lifelong love?
